China has become the second largest e-commerce country in Europe!

According to foreign media reports, the French e-commerce sales federation Fevad released the 2023 annual report of French e-commerce. The report shows that the scale of French e-commerce market ranks second in Europe, second only to Britain and surpassing Germany.

The report pointed out that e-commerce has become an important driving force of the French economy. In 2022, French e-commerce sales reached 150 billion euros, up 13.8% year-on-year, and online sales accounted for 12% of the total retail sales.

At the same time, online shopping has been integrated into the daily life habits of the French: on average, the French make 54 online shopping every year, with an average shopping amount of 65 euros, and a total of 42 million French people shop on the Internet.

The report also shows that Generation Z (that is, the generation born between 1997 and 2010) shows stronger interest in online shopping: 60% of Generation Z will consult e-commerce websites when shopping, while the proportion of the general population is 46%. In addition, nearly half of the online shoppers in this generation will shop online after seeing their favorite products on Instagram.

In terms of consumer behavior, convenience and saving money are the main factors that attract consumers to conduct online shopping. The vast majority of online shoppers (92%) think that online shopping is more convenient and saves time than shopping in physical stores. In addition, 52% of consumers think that online shopping can help them save money. In the past year, nearly half of them have bought refurbished or second-hand products, of which clothing products account for nearly half.
